Photo News: Akpabio Flags off 16 projects in Ika (Posted: February 4, 2010)

The Akwa State Government Tuesday reassured on its commitment to good governance as several life-touching projects were inaugurated in Ika local government area.

Inaugurating the projects, Governor Godswill Akpabio who was represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, said his administration decided to provide the people with life touching programmes to make up of the years of deprivation and neglect.

Gov. Akpabio said students in government primary and secondary schools will are beneficiaries of the projects as they have been provided with conducive learning environments.

"We have succeeded in providing water, electricity and conducive health centers for the rural communities in Ika. We will continue keeping the promise in all ramifications." Akpabio remarked.

The State boss however urged the people of Ika to maintain peace and tranquility in the local level adding that his administration’s giant developmental strides will be felt by all and sundry.

Among projects commissioned in various communities are: Mini water and Electrification in Ikot Akpan Offiong, Mini water in Ikot Esedem, Electrification in Ikot Otong, Construction of 4 classroom blocks and Mini water at Technical College, Ikot Oku, Rehabilitation of classroom blocks 1 and 11, primary school, ikot Edim, Building perimeter fence/gate house at the Heaalth center, Nto Etukudo, Rehabilitation of block 1 at Ika Comprehensive High School, Ikot Akpan Anwa, Rehabilitation/construction of 4 classroom blocks at Four Towns Primary School in Ikot Akpan Anwa respectively, Mini water in Nto Mfang, Electrification in Itung Achan, Electrification and mini water in Ikot Idomo.

Responding at the reception in honour of Chief Godswill Akpabio, the Ika Local government Chairman, Mr. Saviour Ibanga expressed appreciation to the governor for keeping his promises in the area.

"The day you visited Ika for campaign, you shedded tears because of what you saw and promised that if you eventually become the governor, you will change the surface of Ika generally. You have kept that promise. Today Ika is proud of well tarred roads, good water and several life-touching projects", the council boss enthused.
