The inaugural flight to the Akwa Ibom Airport, a Boeing 737 jumbo jet 800 series with registration number 5N-MJO, owned by Arik Air, landed on Akwa Ibom State's 22nd birthday, Wednesday the 23rd of September, 2009 at about 2:10 p.m., amid excitement from the crowd.
