Commentary: "Open Letter to Gov. Akpabio: Matters Arising" by: Samuel Francis, Lagos I thank both all and the Akwa Ibom State Caucus in the National Assembly for your unalloyed support to His Excellency, Obong (Dr.) Godswill Akpabio. Let me give you a brief background of what is going on between ex-Governor, Obong Victor Attah and Governor, Obong (Dr.) Godswill Akpabio, because it seems some of us do not understand that it is spiritual. I quote to you from the holy book “1 Samuel 18 vs 1-11”. It was after David had killed Goliath that King Saul began to be jealous of David, why, because after the war with the Philistine, as the Israelites were returning home, the people came out to welcome them and they were praising mostly the women both King Saul and David, but they praised David more than Saul, and the holy book says that Saul was angry and the saying displeased him and from then Saul began to eye David and because of that God sent a distressing spirit upon Saul and what did the spirit do to him only to make him hate David the more, why, because when God want to deal with any man, He will first send such spirit to such a man to make him be a fool before the people then his end will come. In the case of Obong Victor Attah and Obong Godswill Akpabio. It should have been a thing of joy to Obong Victor Attah to see a boy/man who was under him (Obong Attah) as a Commissioner to perform so well in 2 years in the office as a Governor. Rather what do we see, as it was in the case of Saul and David, because people are praising His Excellency, Obong Godswill Akpabio in 2 years than his (Obong Attah)’s locust of 8 years and this is not please to him, so for that he will try to do anything that will make Obong Godswill Akpabio to look under perform before his people. But as I was growing up, I got to know both in the holy book and in my State, Akwa Ibom State that a good father always prays for his son to do more than what good he has done. "But where does this biblical saying leave our ex-Governor, Obong Victor Attah"? As for ethnicity, I will like you, while lying down on your bed to review Obong Victor Attah’s 8 years rule and see which Local Government Area or Village he sited his projects and compare same with that of Obong Godswill Akpabio then you will know what this ethnicity thing really mean to those who are talking about it whether Ibibio or Annang. I want to say that when Obong Attah was a governor, there was nothing like ethnicity. The truth is that those saying it, are saying it because they have been driven away by the new waves of politicians that does not talk about sentiments and politics of ME, MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. LESSON: "WHAT DOES THIS STORY OF SAUL AND DAVID TEACHES US AND MAKE A COMPARISM BETWEEN EX-GOVERNOR, OBONG VICTOR ATTAH AND GOVERNOR, OBONG GODSWILL AKPABIO"? I tell you this! When God put you in a position of authority or put resources in your hands and you don’t understand, ask God and He will tell you because the law governing “Receiving” is call understanding (i.e. if you don’t understand what God has given to you and for what purpose, that thing will kill you, says the holy book). Simple, if God want you to use what He has given you to develop and to raise the people under you, including your Cleaner, Driver, Gardener and Cook, and you know within you that you are not going to help them, please don’t oppress them and please do leave them as they were, why, if you cannot help or be a friend to whom God loves and you continue to oppress him you will pay for that wickedness as King Saul and his family did in the case of David, and secondly, you might not know among these people who God has appoint in due time to lead you in the future, and if you come to know that one of them has been ordained by God to lead, and because you didn’t like him or any of them, you will do everything possible to make sure that he does not get there or stay longer in that position. This is the case of King Saul and David in the bible. I will like anybody who has a spiritual gift to judge and compare with what is going on between ex-Governor, Obong Victor Attah and Governor, Obong Godswill Akpabio in Akwa Ibom State. Let nobody think it was an advice that comes from the heart; it is because I didn’t want YOU as Governor. My advice to you our able Governor is: Do everything you can politically to stop him from raising his head in politics and I beg you in the name of God don’t probe him, even though God has appointed you now to be our governor, and do everything you can that is in line with Godswill to change Akwa Ibom to a Promise Land and not a Land of Promise, and it is the holy book that says; when a king is change, the laws also have been change too. So no matter what you do and anybody says he/she doesn’t like it. Give no answer to that. And don’t forget also that; IF YOU FAINT IN THE DAY OF ADVERSITY, YOUR STRENGHT IS SMALL. (Proverb 24 vs 10). And don’t forget also that there is POWER IN THE WORD OF GOD. Thank you and God bless. To have your commentary posted here, please send an email to . Include your subject, full name and location.
