Akwa Ibom News Online Commentary

Akwa Ibom state which is regarded as formal part of Cross River state was created on 23rd September 1987, but the creation of this state has not yet fully registered in the mind of people outside the state, they till refer Akwa Ibom's indigene as Across River people which is Calabar, as a result, account the inanity and logic of Akwa Ibom's indigene to Calabar people. Our people temperaments outside the state are unwelcome, sometime people ponder why our people exhibit stupidity as a result arrive in point of saying that Akwa-Ibomites are not educated or not use to education. For this reason, they are not respected, no matter what they are, they are not easily appointed into valuable positions especially in delta state. Today if an indigene of Akwa-Ibom demands for accommodation in most of the villages in delta state, it will be difficult to acquires it because of what our people has done to those Landlords, most of them lock the room and ran away after six month of occupying the house without payment, those landlord takes that as a yardstick against our people in delta villages particularly.

They does not exhibit prudency in their dealings, no love among themselves, they can easily fight themselves among others who are stranger to them which result disdain on their image and the entire Akwa-ibom state. Some who were born and brought up outside, when taking into consideration the mode of life their state counterparts exhibits get disappointed being an indigene of the state and fill comfortable to be a resident of where they were born, until when they are persuaded to visit their home town and glimpse the category, their joy of being Akwa-Ibomites will be reassured. Now, the questions are what are the causes of these entire stupid act exhibits by our people when they depart from the state? Is the River Niger they cross over that transform they brain? The answer is No!

Research has proved that 70% of our state traveller are illiterate, for that fact they can not cope with skill labour in the urban area they when to resides in those villages where they can see the types of jobs they can do to survive which are mostly find in Delta and Edo state. These unskilled jobs they normally engage themselves are tapping of rubber, cutting of banga and farming where they have a large portion of land. Because they are not educated or trained, they characters are not modern and since there are no mixture of elite among them, those stupid act can easily be exposed which others now assumed that is the stratum of our people, as a result bringing dimple to the 30% elites travellers and the entire Akwa-Ibom citizens in the country.

Moreover, to put these ignominies to an end, the government should ensure all mechanism of establishing these agricultural companies such as rubber, palm trees, and cocoa plantations etc that can provides unskilled jobs for our illiterate citizens and reduce the level of travelling by our illiterate indigenes.

With the establishment of these firms, the mortification will standstill.
