Commentary: "Akwa Ibom's Place in Nigerian Football" by: Emman Boniface Gradually, our darling state is "Akwa ibom is loosing her flair and her place in Nigerian football, with this ,the authority has a lot to answer about the declining and deplorable status of sport in Akwa ibom.does it means that the people at the helm of affairs in terms of football administration and other sports in general,is either those managing our sports lack the desire knowladge or nepotism becomes order of the day which cost us our place in nigerian sport. However, I always like to substantiate my claims with facts, take a look at the ongoing fifa world youth championship where Nigeria is one of the participants and the question is how many Akwa ibommites made the list and this does not even bother the authorities let take a look at what picknic is doing in Delta state in terms of sport development River state have not left out not to mention Lagos state and Ondo state where sports development is on the increase and one will ask,"what is our darling state doing in order to return to her glory days i.e the days of Friday Ekpo,Etim Esin,Ikpe ekong and others.what the authorities should do now is to take sport development in Akwa ibom state seriously, starting from primary school level if possible streamline it into curriculum where anual events will be held in oder to produce many Friday Ekpos,Etim Esins,Enyeamas, kingsley Udohs,Enefiok Udobongs,Effiowan Ekpos ,Ibok Edets and host of stars. The government should do the right thing, put the right people in place not those who are ignorant of sport admins.i really want to see our darling state taking her right place back in terms of sporting activities and egually looking forward to the day my darling state will win National sport festivals.watch out for next edition.
