Commentary: "Four More Years of Akpabio/Ekere Administration to Make the "Uncommon Transformation" Common for More Akwa Ibom People!"
by: Victor Udo, PhD

Idung Akwa Abasi Ibom:

It is a new day, a new dawn, a new Administration, the Johnathan/Sambo Administration in Abuja and the Akpabio/Ekere Administration in Uyo. To be fair, there are other 35 state level new administrations inaugurated today in Nigeria.

Charity they say begins at home or in the political parlance, every politic is local. So, may I take the time to congratulate President Johnathan and his Vice President Arc. Sambo on their first of two constitutionally allowed two terms. Congratulations to all of the new and old governors inaugurated today in Nigeria.

More importantly, congratulations to my own Governor Godswill Akpabio and his brand new Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere. Congratulations to Akwa Abasi Ibom People across the world for giving the Akpabio/Ekere more than 85% democratic mandate to lead the people till May 29, 2015.

"Come rain, come shine or both", God's will has been done in Akwa Ibom State today. I have spoken on the phone with several people on the ground including my personal friends, family members, mentor, the Diaspora delegation including President Buffer Eyo of AKISAN, several members of AIDN and other organizations.

You could sense the joy and accomplishment in the voice of Akparawa Jemima Essien, the High Commissioner of Esop Mkparawa Ibibio in Europe. He was in the company of President Eyo when I spoke with both of them- what a day of global unity and celebrations. May this be the beginnings of greater things for Akwa Abasi Ibom People.

According to Barister Ata Ikkideh, AIDN European VP, "this is a great day in Akwa Abasi Ibom State", the "who is who in the state" are celebrating and gathered for the inaugural ball. It is the day the Lord has made we must rejoice and be glad in it. Our people are together under a good leader.

"Every authentic and reputable organization of Akwa Ibom is represented", Ata added. Even in his inaugural speech the Governor has invited the opposition parties to join his administration. What a day! What a time!! What a People!!! - The Akwa Abasi Ibom People! One People, One God, One Land, under one leader.

Gov. Akpabio is a leader we must all work together to support and help him and our state become more perfect. It is our day, our time to move forward and not backward. A time of unity and progress for sustainable development. I see a new Akwa Ibom in the light of God.

While many of us are not at home at this important time for one reason or the other, most of us are there spiritually and emotionally with our people. (I for one could not go due to employment assignment - I work for the Power Company that serves Washington DC and the last five months was not a good time for me to travel.

I join our people to say may God bless Akwa Ibom. May God bless our leaders. May God give our leaders and people the vision and ability to make ours the First State (Akpa Obio) in Nigeria. We now have four more years of Akpabio/Ekere Administration to make the "uncommon transformation common" to more Akwa Ibom People!

Peace and Blessings. Victor Udo
